Hospital housekeeping involves the maintenance and cleaning of a medical institution that also includes nursing homes. These institutions and organizations are usually administered under strict government regulations and the codes for sanitary conditions. Hospitals have to rely on the housekeepers for diligently discharging their duties.

The housekeeping staff in a hospital gathers, cleans and washes bed linens, gowns and scrubs on a daily basis. They are also entrusted with inspecting the linens for wear and tear. They mend them when possible.
